Part of what prompted me to start my own blog was the search for "internet humor" that came from a Christian perspective, or at least a source that was clean and didn't involve sifting through tons of vulgarity to find things to share with friends. Back in May of this year, a haven for Christian internet culture appeared in the form of Christianmemes.com. The site has been growing in popularity since it's founding, and the admins are dedicated to making it a success with frequent updates and new ideas. The aim of the site is clear even from the sub-title of "memes... but Christian. Pretty basic. Enjoy!" The quality of their posts is consistently high, and they welcome submissions from readers as well.
There really isn't much else to say about Christianmemes.com, other than I'm happy to see it doing so well. The site is a great example of how even devout Christians have a sense of humor. Like Nehemiah 8:10, the joy of the Lord is their strength. I'll share a few of my favorites to help give you an idea of their content and show some of their older posts, but be sure to visit the site and show your support.
They often use common secular memes but with a Christian spin, including changing Good Guy Greg's joint to a candy cane.
The admins have even come up with a meme of their own. Meet "Oversaved Oscar".
I also enjoy when they post something referencing a Bible passage. I'm not sure if it was their intention, but if these cause someone to crack open a Bible, they've created a very clever ministry tool.
There's also a healthy amount of original content, both by the admins and submitted by readers. Again, I'll end by sharing some of my favorites, but there's a lot more on their site than I can share in a single blog.
OK, I'll share just this last one, only because it references one of my favorite encounters with Jesus and has cereal guy.
